A local walk and drive-through test centre has been set up in Corringham on Wednesdays and Sundays to provide a local resource for residents that need to get tested for coronavirus.  This is a ‘walk-through’ centre and not a walk-in centre so it is vital that no one goes there unless they have booked an appointment first through NHS Test and Trace Tests are available to everyone but it's important that only people who have one of the following coronavirus symptoms get tested:

  • a high temperature
  • a new, continuous cough
  • a loss or change to your sense of smell or taste

It's estimated that around 25 percent of test requests in the UK are being made by people who do not have coronavirus symptoms, which is putting strain on the system. Nationally plans are in place to tackle this but it's important to remember that symptoms of a common cold, like a runny nose or sore throat, are not COVID-19 symptoms and anyone feeling those should not book a test.  Please only arrange to get tested if you have one of the three coronavirus symptoms. This will help make sure that those who need a test can get one.
