Road Safety Week

From Monday 20th November until Friday 24th November, Little Thurrock Primary engaged in Road Safety Week.

At the beginning of the week, on Monday 20th November, our Junior Road Safety Officers (JRSO) held an assembly to discuss the importance of road safety and why road safety week is so important. This was their first ever whole school assembly and they did a fantastic job at engaging children from all year groups.

Over the course of the week, all classes participated in a road safety lesson, which included, but was not limited to, interactive games; videos to identify potetial hazards and even role play!

Over the week, Miss Dowsett held a Road Safety Poster Competition. Children from Nursery to Year 6 were invited to take part in the competition, to create an eye-catching and informative poster about road safety using the information that they had learnt throughout the week. This competition aimed to promote road safety around our school.

After the deadline on Friday 25th November, winners from each category were picked by our JRSO.

Our winners got an Amazon voucher and their posters were photocopied, laminated and placed on display in and around the school. Additionally, you can see the posters below and on our school newsletter. Unfortunately, we had no entries from early years, but we had lots of entries from Year 5 and 6. Therefore, we grouped the winners into KS1, LKS2, Year 5 and Year 6.

The winners from the competition are as followed:
